eens was je
een stille bron,
nu de haastende beek,

en het waterrad
draait sneller,
alsmaar sneller.

Time

You flee from me
as water
through my fingers,

once you were
a quiet spring,
now the rushing brook,

and the water wheel
turns faster,
continuously faster.

The butterfly comes soon
Until then softly gently sleep.

Zachtjes fluister ik ja, luister stil
naar alles wat hij mij vertellen wil.

Translation:

My soul lives in a dead body ” he says,
and his words cut straight through me,
oh ,such feeling I recognize too well
and I, and I would like to scream,
scream as gulls above open sea.

Softly I whisper yes, listen quietly
to all he would like to share with me.
