Walk on the Wind

She was beautiful in her way
Her soul showed in her face.
She wrapped me up in a buffalo robe
Laid me down and rubbed my feet.

She burned sage and sweet grass
And lit a pine scented candle
She chanted just audibly
Until I went to sleep.

We dreamed or perhaps for a moment
We wakened from a life long dream
And saw realities of each other.
There was nothing for us together.

She told me I would walk the wind alone
I told her, remain free, untamed and wild.

Night

Come dark night
Fold your arms around me,
Embrace me.
Close my eyes to the brightness of day,
Make me deaf to the cares of the world,
Cool my brow with your gentle breeze,
And let me hear only the crickets
Singing to me.
In your stillness
Touch my lips with love
And bury my heart
In the serenity of stars
Winking from heaven above.

Friends

Far off in the east horizon
Across the ocean wide
I find in a foreign land
That friendship doth abide.

Heart to heart
And soul to soul
Across the line
Our friendship stole.

What seemed so very distant
Friendship made quite near,
And there across the miles
I found a friend so dear.

Such a bond as this
Makes the world grow smaller,
And with this feather in my cap
I find I walk a little taller.

And so with grateful heart
I pen this note online
To send a loving message
To this friend of mine.

To my pleasant surprise I received from Stephanie at Lostupabove two blogger awards at the same day! To be honest with you I was flabbergasted and thrilled when I found her message telling me she would like to give me these awards. Stephanie is a lovely and kind lady and she has a blog which is more a treasure box than a blog for those who love to read poetry or really like classical music and opera! Strand of Pearls

Passed years, what should I say.
I rather would compare, if I may,
my life to a fragile silk thread
on which a shining pearl I add,
every time a year has passed,
white, pink and even some black.

A very fine exquisite strand
as rare as life itself, when spent.

A Stone of No Importance

There is a stone of no importance: grey
and warm in sunlight, black and cold by night,
wet in the rain, reddish by evening light;
its properties dependent on the day,
on ambience. Volition has no play,
nor will. It does not move, though Science might
demur predictably, begin to cite
particulate vibration. Others say
that Life is all-pervasive. This, if true,
negates my first assertion, opens wide
the doors to those religions that imbue
the nescient world with consciousness, as plied
through aeons past, by many peoples, who
spoke to the stones, not one of which replied.

Julia we dancing

Late garden party in the lengthening day;
lithe, noisy teenage children; happy games.
Aretha singing, showing us the way
so clearly black and white we don’t need names.
The music moves me, way you knew it would
and Bacharach and Whitney’s aunt combine
to make us hug each other, hugging good.
On days like this we don’t require the wine.
Now give me, give me, give me, mocking bird,
and we be breathing easy, dance charades
like little children chirren o my word
and Julia, you be beautiful, them old maids
they smiling on us darlin’ in a trance
of happy evening happiness we dance.
