Saturated by the rising sun
waves break as liquefied copper,
under my feet the pier runs deep
to drown in the infinite offing.
At the gold tipped horizon
a ship sails into the gentle
embrace between sea and sky,
leaving me here, stranded.

A most beautiful poem! The photograph only enhanced it even more. It bought back to mind for me the times I have been along the waters edge at dawn and the magnificance and awe that nature can inspire.
I enjoyed this immensely. Thank you.

A beautiful poem and picture which took me, in my imagination, to the end of Whitby pier where, around mid-summer, I can stand and watch the sun rise out of the sea.
Having stood on the beach the previous evening and watched it sink into the sea.

Thank you, David! I love to be out on a pier because it gives a feel you are a little bit out on the sea.. Ours is now standing in the sand because coastal protection. Pity , but then I found this beautiful photo!
